Vittoria Rizzuto
August 12, 1923 – February 14, 2022
Peacefully, with family at her bedside at the Humber River Hospital, following a short illness.
In her ninety-ninth year.
A Daughter of Domenico and Caterina.
Vittoria, her husband Domenico (d. 1978) and their three children, Pasquale (d. 2017), Caterina and Cesare immigrated to Canada from their native Italy in late 1959. Shortly after arriving, in 1960, their second daughter, Maria, was born. For years Vittoria anchored the home while the family took root and thrived in their new country.
A loving and giving Nonna who played a part in raising Michele (Cher) and Domenico (Krisztina) Garaci, Christopher Rizzuto, Laura (Joshua) and Kevin Hunka.
Her grandchildren were the joys of her life.
Bisnonna to Maurizio, Francesca, Santino, Isabella, Iyla and Archer.
Small in size, but huge in Vittoria’s heart.
Vittoria is survived by her daughter Caterina Garaci (Calogero), her son Cesare Rizzuto, her daughter Maria Hunka (Don), her daughter in law Corrine (Pasquale) Rizzuto and their families.
Also, her brothers Cesare, Benedetto, her sisters Anna, MariaRosa, Lisa,
and their families.
Vittoria was predeceased by her sisters Rosa and Maria and her brother Francesco.
She will forever be remembered.
Visitation will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Friday, February 18, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to attend, no reservations are required. There is a room capacity, so guests might be asked to wait until we can safely accommodate you.
A private funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Vittoria being laid to rest with her husband at Mount Hope Cemetery.
