Vincent Caissie, 93, of Moncton,
passed away on Monday August 15, 2022 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont
UHC. Born in Rogersville, he was the son of the late Maxime and
Léocadie (Goguen) Caissie.
Vincent was a civil servant with
the federal government. After retiring, his favorite pastime was
unravelling his family’s roots across generations. A great lover of
Acadian history and genealogy, his in-depth research on the Caissie
family has greatly contributed to a better knowledge of the history of
the Caissie’s.
He is survived by his wife for 67
years, Louina (Richard); six children: Claude of Riverview, Roger
(Lise Laverdière) of Trois-Rivières, QC, Rachel
(Wayne Zelmer) of Moncton, Michel of Dieppe, Nicole of Moncton, and
Alain (Corinne Snider) of Alma; four grandchildren: Nicolas, Laurence,
Anik, and Elise; four sisters-in-law: Gladys Caissie, Elda Richard,
Eva Richard and Anita Richard; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate
family.
Besides his parents, he was
predeceased by eight sisters and brothers: Elodie, Livain,
Gérald, Louise, Paul, Jeanne, Edmond, and
Fernande.
In accordance with his wishes,
there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The funeral mass will
be celebrated at St-François-de-Sales Roman Catholic
Church, 11111 Principale Street, Rogersville, on Tuesday August 23 at
11 am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In memory of Vincent,
a contribution to the CHU Dumont Foundation, the Monument national
Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption of Rogersville, or a charity of
the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Funeral
arrangements are in the professional care of Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, Moncton (858-1900).
