Obituary of Vicki Reimer
Our loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and Grammy, Vicki Ann Toews Reimer left us in the early morning hours of May 28″, 2022, at Lacombe Hospital, Lacombe, Alberta. She left our hearts torn and our home so very empty. We wonder how we will go on without her, yet we trust God will see us through.
Vicki was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 and fought it bravely for 10 years, making many friends along her journey. Vicki and I shared our lives and love with many others facing difficult times, people we met in our time spent at the clinic in Tijuana.
Vicki was born on August 20, 1963, to Eldon and Lorna Toews in Three Hills, Alberta. She grew up on the family farm being the oldest child with four siblings. She attended Dr. Elliot School and later Kneehill Christian School. She was baptized April 19, 1977, by Minister Cornie Wiebe and was faithful to her vows.
She was engaged to me, Randy Reimer, at age 17 and we enjoyed nearly 41 years of married life. We were blessed with three wonderful children, two boys and a daughter. The children added so much joy to our lives.
Some highlights of our life together include a trip to Kenya to visit Gid and Janelle, stopping in Germany to see relatives, many family fishing trips to Slave Lake, many fond memories of the trip to Romania, and trail riding in the mountains. We have special memories of teaching Bible School in Bingley for 18 summers. For 30 years we made an annual trip to Washington to get watermelon for the home community. We have made countless friends throughout these years.
Vicki loved gardening and flowers and had a green thumb. She loved to help combine and chase cattle, and to take walks with the dog. She loved her cats. Vicki was also an excellent seamstress and an exceptional cook, a kind, gentle soul. So many people have been in our home to enjoy Vicki’s hospitality and delicious meals. She loved to sing and sang a lot with our family. Vicki had a special bond with her grandson Nixon. The last while he would run to her bed to see her and ask if she was feeling better. After she was gone, Nixon picked a bouquet of lilacs and laid them under the covers where Grammy used to
lie. How she would have loved to see Nixon and Everly grow up!
She leaves to mourn: her loving husband Randy; son Carlos; daughter Camela & husband Max Penner; grandson Nixon; and granddaughter Everly, all of Swalwell, Alberta; and son Ian of Calgary, Alberta. Her parents Eldon & Lorna Toews of Linden, Alberta; siblings Janelle & Gideon Berniko, Darren & Lana Toews of Swalwell, Alberta, Chris & Brandon Nichols of Geiger, Alabama, and Jeff & Sharon of Airdrie, Alberta; sister-in-law Kate & Lorrin Baerg, and Diane Reimer, all of Linden, Alberta, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She we predeceased by her mother-in-law Helen Reimer and followed a few days after her death by her father-in-law Ed Reimer.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Vicki
