Victor “Vic” Rempel, age 74, peacefully slipped away to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK.
Victor Albert Rempel was born in Herbert, SK to Henry & Mary Rempel on June 24, 1947 — the youngest of three children. Vic enjoyed farm living with all of its challenges and developed a strong work ethic. He attended school in Main Centre, SK, Herbert, and the Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, SK before going to Saskatoon, SK and Calgary, AB where he obtained his Inter-Provincial MVMR Papers.
While in Calgary, Vic met and married the “love of his life,” Marilyn Fredlund, from Three Hills, AB and they moved back to the family farm at Main Centre. Their son, Korwin, was born in 1975 and during the 1978 snowstorm their daughter, Delynn, arrived, making their family complete.
They enjoyed farm life until 1989, when Marilyn’s Picture Framing business demanded more time. With the folk’s approval, the farm was sold and they moved to Swift Current, where they ran De-Kor Framing until 1996.
(In Vic’s own words). “This gave opportunity to do things which I had been away from for a while — which was truck driving and operating large equipment at Delta Rock and Sand — until 2012, at which time, due to health reasons, I called it quits. I remember the day I took my granddaughter, Mia, with me to give my notice and hand in the keys. It was a sad day for me and I really did miss the long days and the people I had worked with for the last sixteen years. However, my best boss was a lot more fun and cuter — my dear wife, Marilyn.”
Vic loved to spend time in his shop and working on projects around the house and yard — there seemed to be nothing he could not fix or that he did not have the tool to fix. He was always ready to help, putting the needs of others before his own.
Vic’s relationship with God was of utmost importance to him and this deepened throughout his life, especially in the last few years as he struggled with his health. One special blessing was a Bible Study in their home, where Vic served as the leader — his knowledge of the Bible amazed us all. He was very adamant about studying just the Bible and nothing else, as there is so much information there, we could never cover it all in our lifetime.
Vic so enjoyed his family and nothing made him happier than spending time with them. He would drop whatever he was doing for the opportunity to connect with them. This last summer was special as their oldest grandson, Ethan, spent a good deal of time with them learning whatever they wanted to teach him. Many special memories were made!
Those who knew Vic will remember him for his love of God and his family, his work ethic, his generosity and the twinkle in his eye. On behalf of the family, thank you for all of your prayers and kindness shown.
Vic will be forever missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Marilyn; his son, Korwin (Lesley) and their children, Neve and Gabe; his daughter, Delynn (Ryan) Riegel and their children, Ethan and Mia; his brother, Jac (Gladys); and by numerous family members and friends.
Vic was predeceased by his parents, Henry & Mary Rempel; his sister and brother-in-law, Alvina (Vern) Irons; and by several extended family members.
Vic, we love you and miss you but know we will see you soon!
