Veronica Rae Williams

Williams, Veronica Rae, 71 – Truro, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 29, 2022 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Victoria, British Columbia, she was the daughter of Raymond and Roma (Henderson) Aiken.
After enrolling at Acadia University at the age of 16, Veronica graduated from the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College in 1972. She married Ronald Charles Williams on June 30, 1979 in Truro, NS. As an educator, Veronica spent the majority of her career teaching elementary school. She was wonderful with children and had a unique ability to connect on their level while contributing to their lives in simple, yet meaningful ways.
In her retirement, Veronica enjoyed gardening, reading, spending time with her family and being at the beach. Her strength, kindness and compassion were unwavering, even in her final days. Veronica always thought of others before herself.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald “Butch” Williams, children Sarah (Christopher) McCormick, Evan (Cheyenne) Williams, and Jenna (Cory) Baillie; grandchildren Kaeli, Teagan, Mya, Nathanial, Ashton, Rhianna, Kody, Lochlan, and Duncan; siblings David, Leah and Valerie. She was predeceased by her parents and brother Alex.
At Veronica’s request, no memorial service is planned. A private, family burial will occur at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Canadian Red Cross or VON Canada.
