Vernon Reidpath
1944-2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing
of our beloved husband and father, Vernon Reidpath on Thursday,
November 10, 2022.
Born in his family home in Rexton, NB on May 3, 1944, he was
the son of the late Alan and Julia (Boss)
Reidpath.
Vernon left home in his late teens and joined the military
where he earned his trade as an electronics technician. Upon
completing his service, he opened an electronics repair centre in
Toronto with his brother, Eric. In 1973, he relocated his family and
business to New Brunswick and built his home beside his elderly
parents and the family farm. He ran both his electronics
shop and a hobby farm for many years, served as a volunteer
firefighter, and was involved with other community groups, all while
expanding on his interests in business. Over the years he
dabbled in antiques, operated a laundromat, a gas station, and a car
wash, to name but a few. He eventually became owner/operator of
Reidpath Cold Storage Ltd. with his cousin, Gordon, which he remained
heavily involved with even after
retiring.
Although Vernon loved being busy with both his hands and his
mind, he was happiest when spending time with family and
friends. He had a deep appreciation for animals, poetry and
music, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His love,
selflessness and generosity had no bounds. Vernon often
escaped from his busy life to forge memories with loved ones; whether
it be vacationing, family barbecues, or time spent at his cottage, he
made time to enjoy what mattered the most.
Vernon leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years, Marie, and his 4
children; Mike (Carol), Alaine (Rod), Andre (Gloria), and Brian
(Jennifer), along with 10 grandchildren, Katherine, Christopher,
Amanda, Amy, John, David, Amanda, Melissa, Madison, Samuel; 12
great-grandchildren, Keaira, Maxwell, Davis, Charlotte, Kiera, Lilah,
Rylie, Reagan, Damian, Dante, Sophie, Mia, and his sister, Alaine
(Vic) Bastow of British Columbia. He was predeceased by his
parents, 3 brothers Raymond, Eric, and Merrin, and 3 sisters Yvonne,
Julia and Olga.
In lieu of flowers, selfless acts of humanity towards others
would be greatly appreciated.
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home
in Richibucto on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm, Thursday at noon
until time of the service. A Celebration of
Vernon’s life will be held on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at
2:00 pm. Interment will be held at a later
date.
Arrangements are in the professional care of
Thompson’s Funeral Home in Richibucto (523-4252).
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Vernon Reidpath 19442022..
