Dad was actively involved in the community including the Home and School Committee for Heidelberg Public School, the WRPS Choir and Schneider Male Chorus, and horseshoe teams. He was president of the Golden Triangle Snowmobile Club alongside his wife Dorothy. He liked to travel, go for Sunday afternoon drives, day beach trips, and camping with his family. Vernon worked his dream job of teaching driver’s education. Once the program was discontinued Vernon went into an early retirement and found a new job planting many gardens around the farmhouse where he was born in Heidelberg. He was very sociable and loved to be surrounded by people whether it was to play cards, dance or just to visit.
When talking with people about Dad they remember his sense of humour the most. He sure liked to make people laugh! He was a great storyteller; he could keep your interests high for hours talking about the good ol’ days.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St, S., Elmira.
A funeral service by invitation will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022 in the funeral home chapel. A livestream of the service can be accessed on Vernon’s tribute page of the funeral home website.
