Vera Ivy Lodge (Hicks)

Passed peacefully away at Golden Heights Manor, on August 17, 2022, at the age of 92, Vera Ivy Lodge (Hicks).
Vera was born in Bonavista June 30, 1930 to Victor and Elizabeth Hicks. In 1952 she married Albert Lodge of Port Union and together they raised five children.
Vera was a devoted wife and stay at home mother. She was a wonderful cook, homemaker and a very active member of the Salvation Army Home League.
Vera is predeceased by her husband Albert, daughter Violet, son-in-law Melvin Durdle, parents Victor and Elizabeth Hicks, sisters Violet (Max Parsons), Chrissy (John Parsons), Annie Hicks, and brothers Willis and Roy Hicks.
Left to mourn her passing with fond and loving memories are her children: Gloria Johnson (Frank), Bernice Lodge (Cliff Ryan), Daphne Bushey (Bob), Roy (Joanne); Grandchildren: Caroline (Tom Manning), Colleen (Tim Moores), Stephen (Tammy), Tonya (Michael Cole), Kim (Bobby Johnson), Peter (Colette), David, Laura, Rachel, Joshua Durdle, Jessica Durdle (Mitchell Powell), Tyler, Zachary (Kiersten); Great Grandchildren: Elizabeth, Franklin, Grace, Logan, Jack, and Ava; Mikayla, Emily, Adam, Jaida, Jayke and Joey; Madelyn, and Thomas. Also a large circle of family and friends.
Vera and Albert enjoyed camping, meeting up with friends and family, and making memories. They always enjoyed worshipping at churches across the province.
Following Albert’s passing 6 years ago, Vera continued to live alone and maintain her home with the help of her family. She was a strong and determined woman. A few years back she spent time at Daffodil Place receiving treatment for cancer. Following that she went on to have many years of good health. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Bonavista and Area Canadian Cancer Society Relay 2022, all proceeds to Daffodil Place.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation Friday, August 19 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Strathie’s Funeral Home in Catalina and Saturday, August 20 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Strathie’s in Bonavista.
Service Sunday, August 21 2:30pm from the Salvation Army Citadel, Bonavista.
