Special thanks to the Health Science ICU staff for the great care they provided.
While our sadness is deep, we are eternally grateful to have had the love of such a vibrant, kind, loving, and generous person in all or lives. Trixie approached everything with fun filled exuberance and a love of life, a big smile on her face and laughter in her voice. Her endless energy meant that whatever she was doing or whatever was on the go she was in with both feet with the rest of us following her lead. She had a sweetness and personality which made everyone welcome and was an absolute joy to spend time with. She was also a very tough lady as she fought many unseen illnesses over the years but never let pain or challenges prevent her from experiencing life to the fullest. While her life was cut short with an unexpected illness she absolutely filled every day to the maximum and squeezed every bit of joy out of her time. Her passion in life was children, which she lived through in her career as an elementary teacher and then after that as she adored her 4 grandchildren and their special “nanny nights”, her world absolutely revolved around her grandchildren. Her love of children is evidenced by some of her last words written before her death “the test of the morality of a society is what it does for it’s children” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer). That speaks of Nanny Trixie, a role model for all.
