It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Tony (Anthony) Meijering. A long-time resident of Dawson Creek, British Columbia, on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the age of 46 years.
Tony courageously battled with pancreatic cancer for the last year with loved ones by his side.
Tony was born in St. John, New Brunswick on November 11, 1975, to Geert and Charlotte Meijering
Tony was a dedicated employee of R. Dufour Enterprises Ltd. where he was known in the community for delivering bread, freight, and potato chips. He was affectionately known as Uncle Chips to numerous nieces and nephews.
Tony enrolled in the Pouce Coupe Rangers and that led him to take professional training for the Canadian Rangers, a component of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve, in Victoria, B.C. which he took great pride in.
This would set the groundwork for many weekends camping with family, but he truly loved to travel, especially to the sunny beaches of Mexico and Cuba where he would ask Patricia for her hand in marriage. Tony would fulfill one of his dreams to introduce his father in-law Arnold King to a new way of travel when he brought him on his final adventure with Patricia, Annika, and Eva to Cuba one last time in June 2022. Despite his illness, the smiles on Tony’s face said it all, complete tranquillity in the sun and sand.
Tony also found peace after being baptized and accepting Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He enjoyed attending Church and having fellowship right up to the last Sunday when he insisted to the doctor that he needed to attend Thanksgiving Sunday at Grandview Chapel. This is where he would enjoy his last meal.
He had many passions in life, but his family, along with his three-year-old chocolate lab Duchess that he loved to spend time with, would top that list.
Tony was survived by his fiancé – soulmate Patricia; his children Logan, Wyatt, Travis, and Angelina; grandchildren Jackson and Lilith (Opie’s pride and joy); mother Charlotte; older brother Cecil (Cindy) Meijering; as well as many extended family and friends.
Tony passed peacefully in Patricia’s arms at the Dawson Creek hospital, thanks to the wonderful nurses that would honour Tony’s final wishes.
With respect for Tony’s wishes there will be no formal service held.
For friends so wishing, donations may be made in memory of Tony to Network Ministries, 10500 13 St, Dawson Creek, British Columbia, V1G 3W5
Very Respectfully, Reynars Funeral Home & Crematorium
