In loving memory of Thomas Raymond Harris
August 27, 1956 – March 5, 2022
Tom Harris passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022, at the age of 65. Tom fought a hard battle over the past few years, living with chronic pain and cancer. No matter how much he struggled, he never lost his sense of humour or generous heart. He cared deeply for his two children Todd and Jennifer and his extended family and many friends.
Tom was the second of five siblings. Living his early years in Kamloops, then later as a young teen, his family moved to McLure on a small acreage where his love of the outdoors grew. After Graduation, he briefly worked for CN and ran the McLure ferry before hiring on with Balco Fadear Creek Mill as a forklift operator where he worked for years until the mill burnt down in 2003.
Some of his favourite memories were living on Boulder mountain. He loved to fish and hunt Bonaparte, especially in the seven sisters’ area. He often referred to himself as a “Mountain boy” because that was where he felt the most at peace. At home his favourite pastime was sitting around a campfire playing his harmonica and sharing stories with family and friends.
Tom was predeceased by his loving parents Betty and Ray Harris in 2003. Tom leaves behind his daughter Jennifer (Steven) Shelstad, his son Todd (Maxine) Harris. His former spouse Donna Harris. His siblings Bill (Tracey) Harris, Ken ( Wendy) Harris, Dan ( Janice) Harris, Linda ( Wayne) Ewashina and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends and his cat Katie.
A celebration of Tom’s life will take place this summer. The family would like to thank Dr. Marais and the staff at Barriere medical clinic as well as the Doctors and nurses on 7 North at R.I.H. and MaryAnn from Drake funeral home.
“You have reached the peak, Mountain boy. May you be free of pain and forever at peace until we meet again.”
