Theresa Mahoney
1932-2022
It is with appreciation for a long and blessed life, the family of
Theresa Mahoney announce her passing. Predeceased by her loving
husband Ambrose in 2010 they shared 46 years together with family and
friends.
Theresa was loved by her five children: Mary Boyd (Sean), Margaret
Mahoney-Southern (David), James Patrick, John (Roseanne), Justin (Ana
Maria); 13 grandchildren: Ryan (Carolyn), Bethany, Tara, Connor Boyd,
Jennifer, Jonathan (Allie), Christopher (Dallas) Dutra, Josh (Jenna)
Buntain, Nathaniel, Matthew, Daniel, Emma and Brendan Mahoney, and 8
Great Grandchildren: Jack, Sydney, Aubrey, Ambrose and Keith Dutra,
Everly Boyd and Henry and Bridget Buntain. She is survived by her
sister Mary Schneider and brothers Guy and Gerald Gallagher,
sisters-in-law Priscilla and Fid Gallagher.
Theresa chose nursing as her vocation and continued caregiving after
retirement. She was a graduate of Madigan Memorial in 1953 and nursed
in Fort Fairfield, New York, Edmonton, Perth and Bath.
Theresa was known for her hospitality, a bountiful plate and Sunday
gatherings. Food and music with Theresa’s quick wit and laughter
made a visit to “the Farm” an event. She enjoyed
travelling and instilled in her children a sense of adventure …
a quick road trip usually meant visiting a relative, a shrine and an
arts or cultural event. Theresa lived her faith and her conviction
guided her life.
Theresa was predeceased by her parents Guy and Mary Gallagher, her
brothers Lloyd, John, Donald, Pat and Ralph; her sisters-in-law, Anne,
Polly and Patty Gallagher.
Visitation will be held at St John the Evangelist Church in Johnville
on Sunday, May 15th from 3PM to 6PM . Funeral services will be held
at the same location on Monday, May 16th at 11 AM with Father Gilbert
Doddatto officiating. The interment will follow in the Johnville
Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Saint
John the Evangelist Church or the Johnville Cemetery.
