Susan Angela Piccione Kennedy 2022

Obituary
KENNEDY, Susan Angela (nee Piccione)
December 12, 1959 ~ April 21, 2022
After a brief but courageous fight with liver cancer, Sue died peacefully in her sleep, in the loving embrace of Brian and her cherished niece Stephanie. Sue is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Brian. She was predeceased by her parents John and Judith “Judy” Piccione. Sue will be missed by her siblings, Joseph “Joe” Piccione, Donna (Chris) Kerfoot, Nicholas (Lynda) Piccione and her dear sister and best friend, Linda Fearon. Crossing the Rainbow Bridge before Sue were her beloved family Labradors, Filly, Jake, and Salem. Left to mourn are Sue’s many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, many of whom she had close personal relationships with. They will remember Sue fondly as their “Cool Aunt”.
Sue was born and raised in Toronto. She was a proud resident of Scarborough and attended elementary and high school there. Her work life ranged from bank employee to telephone operator, but for the majority of her career she was a 33-year veteran of Toronto EMS working as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher. Sue was highly thought of by her colleagues and was regarded as a “good dispatcher”, the highest praise one can receive in that stressful and demanding profession. While at Toronto EMS, Sue met Brian, the love of her life and the feeling on Brian’s part was very mutual. What followed was 31 years of happily ever after. Brian would often tell people that these were the happiest years of his life. Upon retirement in 2015, Sue and Brian relocated to their paradise in the forest outside Huntsville, Ontario.
One of Sue’s great loves was travel – Paris, London, Italy, throughout much of Canada, seeing and experiencing new places brought her great joy. Many trips involved whale watching in the waters of Cape Cod, NFLD., Tadoussac, P.Q., British Columbia and Mexico. Her personal favourites were humpback and orca whales. One of Sue’s most memorable trips was to Churchill Manitoba to see the magnificent polar bears. Closer to home was Algonquin Park with its lakes, trails, moose, bear and wolves.
“Shall I tell you what I find beautiful about you? You are at your very best, when things are worst” (Jeff Bridges Starman).
Thank you to our neighbours on Lynx Lake Road. Special thanks to Paul and Sandy. To our dear friends, particularly our Toronto EMS pals for being there when we needed them most. Special thanks to our palliative care support group, Para Med nurses Megan, Brittany, Cathy, Jessica and Ashleigh, RN’s Norma and Debbie, Doctors, S. Rask, R. Kent, D. Harrold, S. Erven, and A. Small. Many thanks to our family physician Dr. M. Mason. We were treated with such patience, kindness and compassion. There are angels on earth and not all superhero’s wear capes. From the bottom our hearts, thank you to our families for their love and support. Without you, we wouldn’t have had the strength and courage to endure this awful time.
In keeping with Sue’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at Grandview Golf Club on Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 2-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers and if so inclined a donation in Sue’s memory to the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, Rosseau, Ontario would be greatly appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Susan Angela Piccione Kennedy 2022..
