Stiebel, Marion Norine (Selig, Meisner)—30 November 1923 – 15 October 2021
Passed away peacefully, at the age of 97 years, with her granddaughter Chantal by her side. Marion was the biological daughter of Adam and Laura Selig. She was adopted by John and Eliza Meisner. Robert (ex-husband), her 6 siblings (Percy, Gilbert, Oliver, Ernest, Forrester and Ruby) and her daughter Karen predeceased her. She leaves behind a daughter Cheryl Stiebel (Paul Langevin), a son John Stiebel (Celine Bussieres), 3 grandchildren, Chantal Langevin (David Collar), Che Langevin and Quentin Dexter (Jennie Reiprish) and 5 great grand-children, Rhys and Remy Collar; Ellen, Sadie and Quinn Dexter.
Mom was born and raised in Nova Scotia. She trained as a bookkeeper and worked in the local general store. Marion met Robert Stiebel, when his ship was in Liverpool, N.S. for refit. They married in 1945 and moved to Montreal. As a family, we spent every summer at the Meisner home in Brooklyn, N.S., (our “cottage”) enjoying time with her family and friends. Mom spent countless hours doing repairs on this house and her home in Montreal. She loved working with her hands. She also spent time carpet bowling, dancing, travelling and when she was younger sewing and crocheting. For many years, she worked at O.E. MacIntyre, a book company in Montreal. Mom dearly loved her grand-children and great grand-children, and took pride in telling every one of their adventures and accomplishments. Like the rest of our family, Christmas was her favourite time of the year. Mom, Gran, G.G. you will be deeply missed.
Sadly, Marion fell and fractured her hip in March 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, and spent her remaining time in Ste. Anne’s Hospital, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec.
Cremation has taken place, under the care of Aeterna Crematorium in Montreal, PQ. Marion will be returning home to Brooklyn, N.S. to be with her daughter, Karen, in their final resting place. A celebration of their lives will take place at the Seaside Cemetery, Brooklyn, Queens County, on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Ste. Anne’s Hospital, 305 Boul des Anciens-Combattants, Sainte-Anne-De-Bellevue, QC H9X 1Y9
