Stanley’s Obituary
It’s with great sadness that the late Stanley George Curtis passed peacefully away at the age of 93 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Stanley was born on April 19, 1929 to his parents, James and Dorcas Curtis of Campbellton, where he grew up and spent the rest of his life.
At a young age he was taken out of school to go to work in the woods with his Dad (that was the thing to do back then, to help out where you can). At a later age he worked in the woods in Buchans/Millertown and on the highway with the department of highways.
He married the love of his life Ruby Lush and they raised 9 children. We didn’t have the best of things but we had the most important thing, the love from our Dad. Dad loved horses, anyone who knew him knew that. He would help out anyone no matter who they were, if it was to get a hug or to talk he was there, he had a heart and an ear for anyone who needed it.
He was predeceased by the love of his life, Ruby Lush; his parents, James and Dorcas Curtis; brothers, Claude, Frank, Bill, Jack, Selby, Ernest, Harold; sisters, Blanche, Winnie, Daisy; sons-in-law, Charlie and Albert.
Left to mourn with heavy hearts are his children, Derrick (Ida), Francis, Cindy (Frank), Alvinwood (Midge), Bride (Fred), Stanley (Velma), Marylou (Tony), Breta (Shawn), Deanne (Harvey); 3 grandchildren he helped raise, April (Bryon), Robyn (Brian), Joey (Holly); grandchildren, James, Nicole, Barbie, Mervin, Steven, Charlene, Billy, Jamie, Trent, Abby, Shane, Heather, Chelsea, Jason, Jeffery, Desiree, Charlene, Steven, Melissa; 50 great grandchildren, and a large circle of relatives and friends.
Public visitation will take place from The Salvation Army Church, Campbellton on Thursday, August 11 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will take place from The Salvation Army Church, Campbellton on Friday, August 12, at 2PM. The interment will follow from The Salvation Army Cemetery, Campbellton.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the “Old” Salvation Army Cemetery Fund, Campbellton will be gratefully accepted.
