Soukanh Bounmy
March 23, 2022
Our dad, Soukanh Bounmy was born on August 22, 1961, in Vientiane, Laos to Bong and Khanh Bounmy.
In 1980, he migrated to Canada with some of his family members and got a position as a welder in Didsbury. In 1988, Soukanh Bounmy found love, moved to Calgary and married his wife Nang Thoummarath. They brought 3 beautiful children into this world. Their oldest son Preston (born in 1991), their daughter Sherine (born in 1994) and their youngest daughter Vanessa (born in 1995).
Soukanh was very hard working and spent most his years as a welder and a pipe fitter. He taught his kids to work hard and to always be there for one another. He loved to joke around with others and always wanted to have a good time with everyone. He enjoyed travelling, hunting with his nephews, taking his kids to sports and being surrounded by his family.
Soukanh will be me missed by many of his family members, his aunts and uncles, his nieces, his nephews, and all his friends. We will always remember that great smile and contagious laugh he has.
The family of Soukanh Bounmy would like to extend a sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Foothills Hospital and all their family and friends who have been supportive during this difficult time.
