Slavko Sam Ljoljic Sunday November 13th 2022 avis de deces

It is with the deepest sadness, and broken hearts, that we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Slavko (Sam) Ljoljic, age 86, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC). He will be so terribly missed.
Slavko was the youngest of 3 children, son to Gospova & Lazar Ljoljic, born in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In his early twenties he moved to Rijeka and then to Austria a few years later taking on various jobs in the manufacturing industry before making Thunder Bay his home in 1966, where he spent the majority of his career at Abitibi Woodlands.
He met the love of his life, Mileva, in 1969 and they married in 1970. Slavko and Mileva shared 52 wonderful years together and you would rarely see one without the other. They did everything together and built the most amazing circle of family and friends, a life one can only dream of. Anyone who crossed paths with Slavko would remember his infectious smile. He had an incredible ability to bring out the absolute best in anyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
Slavko was the most loving father to his daughters – they were his pride and joy – Suzie (Andrew) Christie and Diana (Clint) Bates. Being a father came naturally for Slavko, it was at the core of his being. Although he had his two daughters, Slavko was a natural role model and father figure to so many others. He was everyone’s favourite dad.
He will never be forgotten by his 5 grandchildren, Joshua, MacKenzie, Tyler, Sophie & Paige who adored him to no end. They will miss the endless hugs, kisses, and playfulness. He brought calm to every situation and a simple “don’t worry, be happy” easily lightened any mood.
There was nothing more important than spending time with his family. Whether out at Amethyst, sitting in the sunshine, enjoying a cup of coffee or venturing out to Calgary, Slavko lived life to the fullest and was always up for anything. The most amazing memories were made when the entire family took trips to Arizona for the grandchildren’s Spring Break or to enjoy Christmas holidays. Slavko also treasured many trips back to Bosnia to visit with his extended family. Wherever he traveled and whatever he did, if his family was with him he was a happy man.
Unfortunately, over the last couple of years Slavko’s health forced him to slow down, making him unable to do the things he loved most. Despite it all, he never lost his smile and will to live. He continued to make everyone else a priority, never turned down a cup of coffee with friends and joined along to as many family festivities as possible.
He was predeceased by parents Gospvoa & Lazar Ljoljic, brother Stanko and sister Zdravka, in-laws, Zorka & Mirko Stojnic and brother-in-law Lazo.
A celebration of life will take place at Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are gratefully accepted by Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay. Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
Slavko leaves behind a legacy that will live on. We are all so incredibly blessed to have been loved by him and will hold him in our hearts forever.
