Hello! On 31 March I “slipped the surly bonds of earth”. Do not grieve, for I have left this realm to finally reunite with Ken, along with so many other people and dogs who have gone before me (as I have outlived and outlasted almost everyone I have ever known)!
I hope the balance of memories I leave you with are mostly happy, along with the flashbacks of the times I have tested everyone’s patience and pushed all your buttons!
I take with me so many memories of the wonderful life I lived. Growing up in Brandon MB as the oldest child of Bert and Zana Hurst, and spending summers at beautiful Clear Lake. Nursing school in Winnipeg. Meeting a wickedly handsome man at a wild New Year’s Eve party at Grouse mountain; then marrying him and moving to Australia where our first child, Susan, was born.
Back in Canada we settled in West Vancouver and welcomed Debra, Brian and Karen. As a family we spent time on the local beaches and ski hills. Ken and I travelled to amazing places like the UK, Hawaii, Canary Islands, Europe, Cook Islands and Panama to name a few.
Eventually we got our own boat, the “We Two”, and cruised the Inside Passage and around the Gulf Island for many happy years.
Ken and I moved to Eagle Harbour in 2009 to enjoy our golden years. Sadly I lost Ken in 2012, and I lived there for 7 more years with my beloved canine companion, Sir Richard.
My last move was to Vernon, as I’ve always loved the Okanagan. I survived the whole Covid nonsense, and slipped away in my sleep early one morning. My ashes will be scattered over Hanalei Bay in Kauai, a beautiful place that Ken and both loved.
It was truly an amazing ride, I cherished every chapter that so many of you donated to my story.
