Shirley Knight (nee Ireland) passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Chatham Kent Hospice at the age of 81. Beloved wife of Gordon Knight. Loving mother to Susan Spence, Sally Paterson, Danny DeTurck and reunited in heaven with her daughter Cindy MacDonald. She will be fondly remembered by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Shirley worked more than 30yrs at Zellers in Chatham. The first few years of her retirement were spent traveling with her husband. She always said she was lucky to see and do the things she did. She enjoyed most of her retired years socializing at their trailer in Grand Bend during the summer and spent the winters in Florida. She looked forward to her daily walks wherever she was and fondly shared this activity with her walking group in Florida. She met some lifelong girlfriends throughout the years and always looked forward to their coffee dates to catch up and share a few laughs. She passed down her green thumb to her son and each season they would spend time together getting her gardens blooming. She looked forward to our annual “mother/daughter getaway” which always entailed a few drinks and lots of shopping. Shirley will be truly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
