Sherman Francis Dewar
1933-2022
The passing of Sherman Francis Dewar of St. George NB
occurred at Bobby’s Hospice, Saint John NB on December 3, 2022. Born
in St. George NB on January 4, 1933, he was a son of the late G.
Everett and Marion (Kaglar) Dewar. A loving father, partner,
grandfather and brother, Sherman is survived by his devoted daughter:
Ann Dewar (Ross Lee) of Utopia NB; his special partner: Inez Taylor
and her family, Sherman’s chosen family: Lisa, Jim and Zack Needle,
Melissa and Liam Saunders; his other daughter: Kathy (Chris) Koteff;
his grandchildren: Melanie (Phil) Backman, Naida (Dave) Keetch and
Alec Koteff; several great-grandchildren; siblings: Ralph (Lynn)
Dewar, Ronald Dewar and Lawrence Dewar; his special caregivers: Joan,
Ellen, Deenie, Maggie and April. He really appreciated his
two Lauries, his handy dandy dudes: Clifford and Brett. As
well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his
parents, Sherman was predeceased by his wife, Lillian “Vera”
Dewar.
Prior to retirement, Sherman worked for Lake Utopia Pulp and
Paper as a machine operator and prior to working at the mill he worked
the family business, Dewar Dairies and was known as the local milk
man. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved walking, hunting and
fishing, especially salt water hand lining. He loved sports
and could be found cheering on both the Habs and the Bluejays. Sherman
was active in his community and was a past member of the St. Stephen
Golf Club and an honorary life member of the St. George Curling
Club. He was also a fabulous dancer who started dancing at
the old dance halls and continued dancing throughout his life. He
enjoyed all forms of local music. Known to give flowers to
all the special women in his life for many occasions. During the last
five years, Sherman had a rough battle but never lost his sense of
humor or wit. He loved Charlotte County, a sportsman paradise, close
to the salt water, the rivers, the lakes and our beautiful forests
(until recently).
