Sheila Cavell LeMoine 19422022

Sheila Cavell LeMoine
1942-2022
We, the
family of Sheila Cavell LeMoine, are devastated to announce her
passing on Sunday, October 23, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer.
Born on August 13, 1942, Sheila was the daughter of the late Sarah
Jane LeMoine and the granddaughter of the late Louisa LeMoine
MacGillvary and Captain Herbert LeMoine. Louisa would become a second
mother figure to both Sheila and her sister, Victoria, until her death
at the young age of 52 years, resulting from a tragic
accident.

Strength, resilience, independence,
and an unyielding determination to overcome any obstacle in life, led
Sheila to Wolfville, NS, at the young age of twenty, to begin working
at Acadia University. From this point on, “the
Valley” would be called home and took her on a life-long
journey of forming lasting friendships with so many people, who
gravitated to her loving and beautiful smile, and her ever-so-generous
heart.
Sheila,
began her twenty-year career, working at Canard Poultry, and it was
this job, that would lead her to find her best friend, travel
companion and laughter-lover, Betty Garnier; a friendship that would
span decades until Betty’s death in
2016.

Sheila’s busy life of work
and caring for any friend in need, never prevented her from spending
time with her sister, Victoria, and her brother-in-law, Wilfred, whom
she loved so dearly. We will always remember the sound of
Sheila’s voice, resonating from the kitchen, gleefully
yelling, “Yahtzee Wilf!”, as they played their
favorite game at the table.
Our
childhood trips to visit Sheila at her home in Kentville, traveling by
train, were the highlight of our summers, and have provided us with
memories we will cherish for our lifetime. A treasured gift that will
live forever in our hearts.
As the
years went on, and her nieces and nephews grew to adulthood, she never
forgot a birthday or special occasion, for seven children, and then
their children and their children’s
children.
Mom and
Dad would continue to make the yearly drive to Kentville, for their
much-anticipated visit, faithfully every summer, until Dad’s
health prevented him from making the trip just a few short years ago,
but their loving bond remained so very strong, and they were ever only
a phone call away.
Sheila
was an Earth-Angel, that we were truly blessed to call our sister,
aunt and friend, and it is only befitting that another Earth-Angel, by
the name of Chris Pineo, would find our beloved Sheila and become such
a wonderfully caring friend to her over the past few years. Chris, we
will be eternally grateful for all you have done, and this world needs
more people like you.
We are
also truly grateful for the angels at Valley Regional Hospital, who
took such loving care of Sheila and treated her, and us, like family.
Your kindness during this very difficult time will never be
forgotten.
Left to
mourn Sheila are her sister, Victoria and brother-in-law/best buddy
Wilfred Dove; and their children, Debi (Vic) Power, Wilfred (Susan)
Dove, Nancy Dove, Elizabeth (Dwayne) Fudge, her niece and namesake,
Sheila (Alex) Russell, Stephen (Amanda) Dove; and a number of great
nieces and nephews and a great-great
niece.
Besides
her mother and grandparents, Sheila was predeceased by her very
special nephew Glenn Dove, her great nephew Mark in infancy, and three
uncles.
Love,
laughter, kindness, generosity, and selflessness are so very difficult
to find in this world, and we found it all in our dear, sweet Sheila
and her loss will be felt so deeply, for so very long, by so
many.
Funeral
arrangements for Sheila, have been entrusted to
the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville. There will
be a private family viewing at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28th,
followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Maya Bevan
officiating. Burial immediately following in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam
Mill. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer
Society, Nova Scotia. On-line condolences
and inquiries may be directed to www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
Sheila,
you were the epitome of strength to a generation of girls who looked
up to you and admired your determination and your grace and we will
continue to pass along your legacy to our children and our
children’s children.
