Dora (Dot) Shaw
December 15, 1928 – April 6, 2022
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Dot Shaw announce that she passed away at the age of 93 after a brief illness. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by her children: Dorothy Dussault (Bob), Peggy Coles, Lorraine Anderson, Bob Shaw (Joanne), Lorie Huising (John) and Debbie Crozman (Rick).
Grandchildren: Tracy Tompkins (Troy), Todd Coles, Lana Randall (Mike), Tara Anderson (Rod), Bill Shaw, Sterling Anderson (Maureen) Robert Coles, Blair Crozman, Tanya Taylor (David), Terry Shaw (Madison) and Alexandra Huising.
Great grandchildren: William Shaw, Takara Tompkins, Liam Shaw, Bella Mach, Livia Coles, Lily Coles, Kaden Mach, Declan Anderson, William Taylor, Bentley Shaw, Sarah Anderson and Adalina Taylor.
She is also survived by her sister Alma Klatt, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dot was predeceased by her husband William (Bill); her parents: Woldemar and Adelina Missal; sisters: Ella Fenske, Meta Lindberg, and Theresa Missal; brothers Lorenz, Alfred, Adalbert, Rueben, Wilbert, Leonard, Harold, and Eddie.
Dot worked as a cashier for more than 40 years, working for various stores in Edmonton: the Army and Navy, Bateman’s, Dominion Stores and Safeway. She also worked for Peoples Food Market in Kelowna. Her and Bill spent several years “snowbirding” between Yuma, Arizona and Kelowna and they finally retired back in Edmonton in 1994. They both kept active in their retirement with the Yellowhead Flea Market. Her love of various crafts (embroidery, cross stitch, crochet, knitting, and beadwork, just to name a few) and her crochet pot-scrubbers ultimately earned her nickname of “The Scrubber Lady.” This blessing of busy hands has wrapped the family in much loved afghans, tea towels, cross-stitched animal babies and scrubbers that will now be treasured keepsakes.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Unit 1, at Youville Home in St. Albert for the loving care provided to Dot.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, those wishing to make a donation in Dot’s memory may do so to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date, with internment at the Ellerslie Cemetery.
