SENECAL, Carolyn Jean
—
It is with sincere sadness, but with thankfulness for a life well lived, that the family and close friends of our beloved Carolyn announce her peaceful transition to her heavenly home after a long struggle with multiple health issues, on August 4, 2022.
Carolyn was born in the small community of Bentley, AB, the second child of Howard and Elsie Morrison. Always a good student, she graduated from high school and studied nursing, which seemed to be a natural career given her interest in caring for people. Carolyn worked in some institutional environments, but found that these were not ideal for her because they lacked the opportunity to provide the level of long-term care she desired to provide. This problem was solved when she and her very good friend Beth Brooks began to provide “in-home” foster care for children who were facing serious behavioural, emotional or physical challenges. For the last 25 years they have worked together with great success, investing in 10 different children, some of whom lived with them from infancy to adulthood. This proved to be much more than employment for Carolyn as she was able to provide care, often complex care, but in the environment of a family. Supporting people with disabilities was the satisfaction of a desire that Carolyn strongly believed that God had placed within her, and she felt blessed to be able to do exactly what she desired to do.
Carolyn was predeceased by her parents, and is survived by her son Simon Senecal; two brothers Grant (Lynda) Morrison and Norm Morrison; special friends Beth Brooks and Cory Tannahill; as well as her foster children, nieces, a nephew, and many, many friends.
In the final days Carolyn knew that the end of her earthly life was near, and she was at complete peace, quoting the words from the hymn “It is well with my soul”; and she could say that because for her, death meant “away from the body and at home with the Lord.”
