Today we celebrate a life well lived. Sandra Jean Lee (nee Davies) passed this morning, the 28th of December. Born in Vancouver, BC on August 18th, 1937, much of her early life was spent helping her mother Mary Isabel Alexandra Macallister and younger sister Kerin due to the untimely death of their father, Thomas Roy Davies.
While in school she met and later married Robert Lee on August 27th, 1960, and the two began their lives together. Not long after, their children arrived – Mark, Laura, and Craig and they moved the family to Vernon, BC.
Here they spent many years playing an active role in their children’s lives and running the family Philatelic business. Sandra loved being around the horses and she and Bob volunteered in a variety of capacities with the Vernon District Riding Club. She was also a skilled curler, earning a spot on the BC Sr. Womens team.
Upon getting closer to retirement, they moved to Kelowna, BC where they enjoyed taking part in their community and traveled extensively. Sandra loved flowers and gardening and always seemed to be blessed with a green thumb.
Predeceased by her husband, she will be greatly missed by her family – sister Kerin, children – Mark (Kirsty), Laura (Renso), and Craig (Kelly). Her 8 grandchildren Lyndon, Jesse, Nicky, Madison, Hayley, Adrianna, Alexandra, and Tyler. And her first great grandchild Theodore.
In lieu of flowers, please honor mom by taking a long walk (she loved those), planting a garden (or even just a flower in a pot), sharing a laugh as warm as hers, or making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC. There will be no service as per her wish.
