Obituary
Sandra Louella Wight (nee Enns)
Sandi will be greatly missed by her family and friends as well as the people in the many organizations she has taken part in as either work or volunteer. After a brief illness with pancreatic cancer, Sandi passed away on April 8, 2022 at the age of 74.
Sandi was predeceased by her father Martin, mother Vy, brother Brian, husband Dan, and two step-sons David and John (AJ). She is survived by siblings Val, Carol (Louis) and Mike, her children Pat, Sue (Ian) and Jon, her step-children Danny (Marilyn), Rosemary, Dennis, Jim (Corlene) and Ruth (Tom), her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her boyfriend Rene.
Sandi worked in a great variety of roles including bartending, construction, first-aide, office administration and executive committees. She has worked for the Royal Canadian Legion, St-John’s Ambulance, Maple Ridge Home Show and the Dominion Command of the BC-Yukon division of the RCL. She has done volunteer work with the Variety of Hearts telethon and the Korean Veterans Association. She sponsored a child in Cambodia for many years and was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Sandi was also a world traveler. She has been on every continent but one (because that one was too cold.) She has travelled with friends and family, with organized tours and travelled solo. She has done road trips up, down and across North America, been on large and small cruise ships and travelled by train, plane and automobile.
Sandi was an avid crafter who would try her hand at anything at least once. She has made many poppy displays for the RCL, sewn costumes for theme nights, made porcelain dolls, done rug hooking and amazing embroidery. She excelled at water colour and beadwork. Many friends and family have at least one piece of her artwork.
Sandi was cared for at home with a very short stay in the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission. We would like to thank the palliative care team of Maple Ridge for their information and compassion for the 4 months that she was ill and the hospice team for their love and caring in the end.
Service will be held at the Legion Branch #88 April 23 at 1PM. To view the service via Livestream, please click the link below:
