Sandra Joan Dalton (Cleghorn)
Born October 21, 1939, in Low Fell, Gateshead, England – Sandra passed peacefully with her daughter and two of her favourite nurses by her side after a courageous battle with Dementia on April 28, 2022. Sandra was the daughter of William and Vera Cleghorn and adored niece of Ernest and Ruby Sinclair and Jessie Brown, all of whom passed before her. She was the beloved wife of Derek Dalton for 53 years (Derek predeceased his wife). Loving mother to Alison Dalton-Osmond, John Dalton and his wife, Cris. Sandra was predeceased by her daughter, JD Dalton, who passed away suddenly on April 28, 2014. Sandra chose to transition to the next life as a beautiful new day broke, and the sky was bright orange; she peacefully left her pain behind. Sandra loved the arts, flowers and nature. She was an avid bridge player and a duplicate bridge life master. Sandra was a former member of the Barrie Art Club, an accomplished amateur artist, and a former member of the Barrie, Orillia, Toronto, and St. Thomas Duplicate Bridge Clubs. She loved all animals, her garden and playing scrabble, music and spending time with family and friends. Sandra’s favourite role in life was being a grandmother. She will be missed dearly by her family, friends, and many staff and the residents of Spencer House in Orillia. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to Ralphy’s Retreat Animal Sanctuary, 39 Darby Road, Wyebridge, ON L0K 2E1. Donations can be sent to Ralphysretreatas@gmail.com or made through their website, ralphysretreat.ca. In the future, a memorial stone will be placed at this site. Sandra’s request for no funeral service will be granted. The family expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Spencer House for the love and care she received.
