It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Joseph Patrick Carroll on June 4, at the age of 77. Roy leaves a hole in all of the many lives he touched, and he and his antics will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara, their son, Erik, Two grandsons Logan and Callum, daughter Sonya, brothers Daniel, Lloyd, Michael and sister Sherry. Also the many nieces and nephews who considered him to be more of a second father, or “Uncle Daddy”.
Roy retired from a career of transport truck driving and later from driving instruction in which he had a passion for each and every student’s driving education, and their faith. He was an outspoken evangelist, not letting more than 5 minutes pass in any conversation before focusing on his beloved Lord Jesus.
Roy was a man with a wonderfully generous spirit, joyfully giving help in any way he could offer, even when health and physical concerns slowed him down. He had a personality which could not be forgotten, and was always up for something sweet, coffee, or beers and a conversation about God. Roy, along with his mane of snowy white hair, sunglasses (regardless of the lighting), epic personality and his kind and generous heart will be cherished and missed for all of our days.
A celebration of life will be held at Rymal Road Community Church, 1967 Rymal Road East in Stoney Creek on June 28 at 2:00 with refreshments to follow the service.
