Obituary
Rose Cherniawsky (nee Materi), beloved wife of Walter Cherniawsky, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away in hospital on Monday, August 29, 2022, at the age of 89 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband Walter, children Brenda, Barry (Deb), Blair, and Tracy (Bruce Wiggers); grandchildren Kayla Dearden (Myles), Jeff Wiggers, and Kelsey Wiggers; and great-granddaughter Macey Dearden.
Rose had a rich and well-lived life. She grew up in Fox Valley Saskatchewan and attended school there, moving later to Medicine Hat, then to Calgary, where she met and married Walter, her husband of 67 years.
Rose valued education, hard work, her faith, and standing up for what was right. A true mother at heart, Rose enjoyed the priceless gift of family, loving and nurturing her children and grandchildren. She was a talented cook, seamstress, and homemaker. Once her children were in school, she worked for the Post Office for over 20 years, before retiring.
Rose loved to travel and to dance. She enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska and trips to Hawaii. Pre-Covid, she and her husband would go dancing every week at the Legion. Rose was always there for the people she loved, making everyone feel special and treasured. She enjoyed people and conversing with others – either in person or over the phone.
Rose had a beautiful soul and a loving spirit. She is deeply missed and will always be in our hearts.
