Obituary
With profound grief and with no words to describe the immense, unbearable suffering caused by her illness compounded by a fractured health care system, all of which she endured with hope and valiant and relentless courage, we announce the passing of our beautiful “Rosie”. She is best personified by a limitless capacity for Service. This included her love of family, her conscientious pursuit of excellence in her most recent position as Director of Finance and Administration, Social Sciences, at McMaster University and in previous positions she held at McMaster, and her passion for Justice and worthy causes. Initially, Rose trained in Fine Arts, an aptitude which was notable in everything about her. Devastated by her loss are her immediate family: husband, best friend and supporter of 36 years, Ev ( Evaristo), her children Marcus and spouse Laura DeCamillis, Rachel and spouse Nicholas Couto, her cherished grandchildren, Olivia and Gabriel Mason and her faithful companion, the family dog, Daisy. Rose loved and prioritized her nuclear and extended family. She is also survived by her father Leonardo (Tony) Liuzzi, her father-in-law Narciso Mason, her sister Marie Liuzzi Scime (Kevin St. Michael), her sisters-in-law Elisa Mason Adili (Anthony), Mirella Mason Tehrani (Cyrus), her five nephews and two nieces and their spouses or significant others, her great nephew and niece, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, both here and abroad. There are many friends and colleagues who will miss her dearly as well. COVID and her resolution to shield everyone she cared for made it difficult to connect in person with anyone but immediate family. Rose is predeceased by her mother Settimia Liuzzi, her mother-in-law Dorentina Mason, and her brother-in-law Frank Mason. We are indebted to, and wholeheartedly thank, all family and friends for providing prayers, good wishes, food and care during Rose’s illness, her close friends Sharon and Chris for their service and encouragement, the front-line workers who did their best and, most especially, Doctor Solomon and Doctor Candy, social worker Matt, and staff at St.Peter’s Hospice for their unconditional and generous care of Rosie during her last two days with us. We will not forget your competence, compassion, and kindnesses. In addition, our thanks go to Annunciation of Our Lord Parish, Nick’s uncle Reverend Liborio Amaral for presiding over the funeral, Liuna Station, Ressurection Cemetery, and Friscolanti Funeral Home for once again facilitating the necessary arrangements in the most sensitive manner. Our family loves you Rosie and we praise you for inspiring us to become our best possible selves. Watch over us and continue to shepherd us in our foibles. Funeral Mass will be offered at Annunciation of Our Lord Parish, at 280 Limeridge Rd W, Hamilton, on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 11:30 A.M. Entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Ancaster. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, you may make a donation to St. Peter’s Hospice on Maplewood Avenue in Hamilton

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Rosanna Mason nee Liuzzi February 24 1962 August 19 2022..
