Ronald Stephenson
February 26, 1927 – February 17, 2022
Our family is sad to announce the death of Ronald Stephenson, 94, of Chester Grant, formerly from Dartmouth. He passed suddenly in South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater on February 17 with family by his side. He was born to parents Norman and Alice(nee Stokes) Stephenson in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.
He arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax aboard the Duchess of York in 1940 with his little brother, Norman, as Second World War British child evacuees. They were placed on a farm in Wellington, Yarmouth County. When he reached 18 years of age, he joined the Canadian Army and served proudly during the war. He later worked for Fairey Aviation, RCA Victor, Hilti Canada and the Corps of Commissionaires. He was a former Noble Grand at IOOF Concord lodge and a member of the Chester Basin Legion, Everett Branch. His greatest joy came from family gatherings, picnics and a yearly trip to P.E.I.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, the former Corrine Elizabeth Anne Topple, daughters Cheryl Macphee, Dartmouth, Susan ( Larry Gordon) Hubley, sons Brian, Dartmouth and Donnie (Shelley) Sackville, a brother, Norman,Cramlington, England , 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was pre deceased by his sister Olive Walker.
There will be no visitation per his wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to the Chester Basin Legion, Everett branch.
