Ronald (Ron) Barnes, 86, of Sarnia left us peacefully and surrounded by family on March 26 at St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Ron was born in Sarnia, March 23, 1936 to Leroy and Irene Barnes. He spent his career as a proud member of Pipefitters Local 663. Ron loved life and was interested in nature – plants, trees, water and birds. Two favourite hobbies, fishing and gardening took up much of his long retirement. He enjoyed summer trips to northern Ontario and winters spent in Texas. He was a sociable guy who enjoyed dancing, bowling and euchre.
He will be missed by loving wife Janice, daughters Vicky, Shelley (John), stepsons Brett (Keeley), Glenn (Rosemary), Sev (Theresa) and stepdaughter Josie (Kevin), siblings Don, Terry and Vivian, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and constant furry companion OJ.
Ron is predeceased by his parents, siblings Gerald, Ray, Dorothy, Geraldine, Bob and Wayne, stepson Warren and wife Jackie.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Lilly and the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice for their care and compassion.
