Obituary
GIBSON, Ronald Angus “Ron” April 17-1935 – March 18, 2022
It is with sadness we announce Ron’s passing on Friday, March 18th, 2022, in his 87th year following several years of failing health, but we rejoice in the knowledge he is no longer suffering and is safe in the arms of his Lord and Savior.
Mourning his passing is his wife and best friend of 68 years, Ruth (Kirkpatrick), his four beloved children Cathie (Mike), Laurie (Tom), Mike (Kim), Dave (Laurie). He was a special Pops to 9 grandchildren and their spouses, and a loving great grandpa to 12 great grandchildren.
The oldest of four boys he is survived by brothers Roger (Judy), Dale (MaryLou), and pre-deceased by brother Gary (Surviving spouse Linda). He also leaves many nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. Ron was pre-deceased by his parents Grace and Angus Gibson.
He had a successful and rewarding 35-year career with Canada Post, working his way up from Postal Clerk to Area Manager. Upon his retirement he managed the Morgan’s Point campground for 10 years, also delivered parts for Young’s Automotive.
He was involved in minor sports coaching, refereeing, umpiring and was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Ron was very active in the Morgan’s Point Church, a faithful choir member and soloist. He also sang with the Robert Wood Singers and the Chorale.
At Ron’s request cremation has taken place and a family service will be held at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME 135 Clarence St. Port Colborne on Friday, March 25th, 2022, at 11:00 am with interment of ashes in Morgan’s Point Cemetery to follow.
Special thanks to the staff at the Northland Pointe long term care home for his excellent care over the past two and a half years.
If so, desired donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Morgan’s Point Church, or a Charity of your choice.
Ron was a man who found it hard to express his feelings but held a special place in his heart for his loved ones. Rest in Peace my Best Friend.
