Ron Patrick Sims 1965 2022 avis de deces

It is with great sadness that the family of Ron
Patrick Sims of Point de Bute, NB announce his passing
at his home on Saturday February 19th, 2022 at the age of 56, after
fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Antigonish,NS, he was the son of the late Walter and
Patricia (Chisholm) Sims. He was predeceased by his brother Alexander
and stepson Baden.
Ron worked for Bell Aliant. He was a member of the Sackville
Princess Louise 8th Hussars and spent many memorable days and nights
at the Sackville armories.
He had an avid interest in military history and toured the
European battlefields with his good friend and former teacher Bayne
MacMillan.
Ron was also very interested in politics and had many calm
debates(haha) with his siblings and friends.
He was an accomplished musician, starting out with
nothing but the blues. After time, he came to love playing acoustic as
well. Many nights were spent jamming with friends Frank Strain, Ivan
Boudreau and Janet Crawford. He was a member of many bands; Ray
Oliver, DC Smith and the Streamliners, Bagtown Blues Band, BS Blues
Band, Big Daddy Shad and most recently, the Mark Green Band with whom
he was able to take part in the 2016 International Blues Challenge in
Memphis, TN.
Ron had an infectious laugh and could make even the oldest
jokes, everyone knows the ones, funny again. He retained his wit and
sharp mind throughout his illness.
Ron will be sadly missed by his partner Beverly Smith,
stepson Ryley (Danielle)Smith of Point de Bute, sister Ellen (Mike)
Reid of Desable, PEI, brothers Chris of Vancouver, BC, Paul (Alison)
of London, ON, John (Rose) of Moncton, NB, Bain (Tracy Cook) of
Moncton, NB, nieces and nephews Meaghan, Alexander, Maxwell, Joseph,
Mary Ann, Emily and Liam, his uncle Paul Sims of Solana Beach,
California, all his American cousins and his good friend Paul Fahey.
Papa will also be sadly missed by his step grandchildren Sawyer
(Baden) and Abby (Ryley).
The family wishes to send out special thanks to the Moncton
Oncology department, Dr Farniuk of Amherst, NS and the incredible team
of nurses from the Sackville Extramural Group whose kindness,
dedication, professional care and 24/7 access for any concerns we had.
We will be forever grateful.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision
Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street,
Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). Cremation will take place and a
celebration of life will be held at a later
date.
