McCUTCHEON, Roma Lucille
November 8, 1938 – August 3, 2022
With great sadness we announce the passing of Roma Lucille McCutcheon. She was born on November 8, 1938, in Regina Saskatchewan. One of three children of Florence Lena (Davis) and Samuel Charles.
Aunty Roma as she was affectionately known, had a heart of gold that enriched the lives of everyone she met. Her endless kindness and immense laugh will be fondly remembered by her family and friends. Roma had a passion for giving and looking after others.
Roma had many “loves” in her life – her family, her friends, cooking, music, games, curling, bowling, the Flames, shopping, travel and get togethers, just to name a few. Roma is remembered for her wit, sense of humor and sometimes dark jokes. Roma was always the last one to leave a party but was always available to drive those who needed some help.
In her younger days, Roma ran a beauty salon in North Calgary. She later went to work for a large home builder as their receptionist. Everyone that entered the NuWest building knew Roma. She was the smile that greeted all comers. When NuWest closed its doors, AGT at the time took over the building and asked Roma if she would continue to look after the front reception area for them. Roma took to her new employer very well and again became the friendly face of AGT. AGT turned into Telus and Roma endured through all the changes until she retired at 65.
Roma had passed just two days before her brother Keith and was predeceased by her mother and father and her younger brother Gordon, her niece Lezliann and her grandniece Tara.
Our Dear Aunty Roma is fondly remembered by her immediate family in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, by her extended family throughout Canada, by her closest friends in Calgary and all her friends across Canada and anywhere she traveled. There are too many people to name, but we all know who we are and how special we were with her. One of the things that Roma said during her last days was, “I am very fortunate, very lucky to have such a great and loving family, and so many good friends.” But we feel we were the lucky ones having her in our lives. All days – especially special occasions will never be duplicated.
Her family would like to thank the Medical Teams at the Foothills Medical Center particularly those in the Intensive Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion in helping to maintain comfort and dignity to Roma during her last days with us. We would also like to thank Roma’s close friend and “Roomie” Cathy Snyder for all the things that she did for and with Roma over the past years.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Roma Lucille McCutcheon November 8th 1938 August 3rd 2022..
