On July 22, 2022, Mr. Roderick “Rod” Charland of Cold Lake First Nations passed away at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Anne; 3 daughters & 1 son, Lena Amable, Lorne, Tammy (Billy) McLaughlin & Sharon; adopted daughter, Ramona (Joseph) Piche; 12 grandchildren, Nathan, Co Len, Kyle, Garrett, Cody, Amber, Bryan, Danielle, Keith, Ryan, Kristian & Ashley; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Frank; 2 sisters, Rose (George) Martial & Irene; adopted sister, Joyce (Maynard) Metchewais; adopted brother, Darrell Loyer; sister-in-law, Sarah; numerous nieces & nephews. Rod was predeceased by his parents, Francis & Leona; 2 brothers, Charles & Rene; 3 sisters, Ann Dopson, Teresa Minoose & Edna Minoose; son-in-law, Brian Cardinal. A Wake will be held on Friday, July 29 (procession leaving Grace Gardens at 9:30 a.m.) at Cold Lake First Nations Spiritual Centre, Cold Lake First Nations. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 30 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael Roman Catholic Church, Cold Lake First Nations. Reverend Father Thomas Nguyen will be the celebrant, with interment in Cold Lake First Nations Cemetery, Cold Lake First Nations.
