Obituary of Robert Girod
June 18, 1939 – March 20, 2022
82 Years
It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the peaceful passing of Robert Girod, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the age of 82 years.
Robert was born on June 18, 1939 in D’amour, SK where he continued to reside, with his beloved wife, of 57 years, Madeline Girod. He is survived by his wife, Madeline; his children, Marc Girod, Monique Girod (Gil Desharnais); grandchildren, Rene Girod (Jaycee Wells), Brodie, Riley, Kirk; brothers, Maurice (Doris) Girod, George (Susan) Girod; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends whose lives he touched and held a special place in his heart and life.
He was predeceased by his father Serge, his mother Leontine, and grandson Brady Girod.
Robert took pride in family and took pride in being councillor for the R.M. of Leask No. 464 for the last 40 years. He truly enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, trapping, dancing, grain and cattle farming. Most of all spending time with family and having coffee and chatting with friends.
Robert Girod’s most notable accomplishments, have been Hunter & Safety Instructor for 23 years and Secretary for Leask & Marcelin Fish and Wildlife for 6 years. He was an active board member of Martin Lake Board and Shellbrook Hospital Board. His most outstanding accomplishment was councillor for R.M. of Leask No. 464 for Division 4 and 5, over a period of 40 years, as an avid R.M. Councillor.

There will be a Celebration of His Life will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022
at 2:00 P.M. at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Leask, SK.
Arrangements are entrusted to Funk’s Funeral Home, Rosthern, SK.

We also had the privilege of working with him on a few projects at The Resort village of Echo Bay. What a great man.
