Obituary of Robert Edward Tunnicliff
Robert Edward (Ted) Tunnicliff
January 5, 1935 – March 24, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ted Tunnicliff on Thursday March 24, 2022 at Markham Stouffville Hospital. Ted was born in Windsor, Ontario to Edward Peter Tunnicliff and Ann Lenora (Eleanor) Logan and then the family moved to East York in 1948. He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Tunnicliff (nee Cane) and his children Leslie Tunnicliff, Kristin Arnott (Rob) and Alison Tunnicliff. He was a loving grandfather to Gavin and Nicholas Arnott, step-grandfather to Leah Illies (Spencer and Evie). Jenna Illies (Kevin), Krista Lougheed and Otis Lougheed.
He is survived by his sisters Betty Bellaire, Doris Mills, Kay Armstrong, Sandy Perry and brothers Tom and Tim. He was predeceased by his sisters, the late Patricia Barnes, Brenda Hittinger and Beverly Bryan. A loving thank you to niece Peggy (Margaret) Simmons who was there from the early days of our marriage to the end of his life. She is family, friend, and the news link to those he was unable to see.
Ted had a long career in the printing industry, working for Canadian Fine Color Company, Lester Inks and Chemicals and Flint Ink Corporation. He was an avid cottager who spent many happy decades planning and building a wonderful getaway in a lovely bay on Kahshe Lake, Muskoka where family and friends gather every year.
It is difficult to say goodbye to such a wonderful, kind and supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend. Our memories of his humour and warmth will stay with us forever.
A private cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in the coming months.
A special thanks go to the many physicians and specialists who have helped the family with their expertise and advice in the past 9 1/2 years. We thank Lorrie MacLean and Kavitha Poirer for many years of professional care and support to help the family keep him home.
If desired a donation to the Scleroderma Society of Ontario or the Markham Stouffville Hospital would be greatly appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Robert
