Obituary
Bob was born at the hospital in Eston, Saskatchewan, on Sept 27, 1941, to Ray and Barb Andrews. He lived in the hamlet of Snipe Lake, just outside Eston. Bob played hockey in high school, and then he switched to curling. Bob also played baseball in school and afterward. Bob graduated from high school in 1960.
He worked for a farmer, “Tiny” Warren in high school. Then started working for a MacLeod’s store in Kindersley and then moved around to Estevan with MacLeod’s. Then he moved to Nipawin for several years. In the early 1970s, he was laid off, and Bob transferred to Three Hills, Alberta. Then he started to work for Three Hills Light Oil as a roustabout (pipefitter’s helper) owned by a friend, Ron Klemmer; he also worked in Linden, AB. Then Bob moved to High River to where his sister was living, and he was able to walk to work. Although Bob was not mechanically inclined, he helped out at the Blue Spruce Motors garage, and then he was off to work at the Tortilla Chip factory in Okotoks. The factory moved to Claresholm, so did he; he helped to train some of the new people. At the airport, Bob slipped on something on the floor, fell, and hit his head, resulting in his hearing loss.
Bob enjoyed watching curling, baseball, and hockey. He liked to read too. After his heart operation, he needed someone to look after him when he got home to Okotoks, so a friend of his offered, but the friend’s wife looked after them both. As a young boy, he had a dog, and he liked cats too. When Bob was older, he really enjoyed looking after the dog, Joy. Bob’s favourite food was mashed potatoes and gravy.
While in Claresholm, Bob lived in the Parkside Manor, the Porcupine Hills Lodge, and lastly, at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre. He was well looked after during his time in Claresholm. Bob was a very caring person who loved to help out wherever he could.
Bob never married nor had children but had many friends and loved ones. He leaves behind his sister Vanda Lupul, niece Linda, and nephew David.
