Obituary
In loving memory of
Robert Ralph Chapman
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and friend, Bob. He passed away surrounded by his family on December 14th, 2022, after a short battle with cancer.
Bob was born September 19th, 1965, to parents Marilyn and Daniel and enjoyed his childhood in Coquitlam alongside his sister, Brenda.
From a young age, Bob loved sports and competition. Throughout his life he enjoyed many such hobbies, including badminton, tennis, skiing, hockey, golf, games, and cards. His drive and passion propelled him to obtain his teaching degree from the University of Victoria in 1992 and he began teaching that year. He found his true calling in school administration, starting in 1998. He went on to work at many of the schools in SD51 over the next 23 years, though you would rarely find him in his office – he much preferred to be out on the playground playing with the kids.
He touched so many in the community, not only through his devotion to his work but also the time he dedicated to coaching sports at all levels and ages. He was a natural leader, always knowing how to make people feel special and fostering genuine connection.
Bob had an incredible passion for life. He loved to enjoy himself through travel, cooking, camping, boating, golfing, and enjoying good beer in the company of his family and friends. He was always quick to offer a joke and a smile, and he had an approachability and warmth that endeared him to so many of his students, parents and friends over the years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa, his children Riley (Levi), Megan (Ethan), Devin (Erin), Brenden (Kendall) and Alisha (Nick) and his grandchildren, Presley, and Jasper. He is also survived by his sisters, Brenda (Andy), Sheryl (Frank) and Donna (Clyde) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Bob’s life and memory on January 14th, 2023, in the gymnasium of Dr. D. A. Perley Elementary School, 7286 13th St., Grand Forks at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, we would like to invite you to donate to the Bob Chapman Memorial Scholarship fund. His family is setting up this scholarship, in his memory, to help deserving youth pursue post secondary education. Donations can be made via e-transfer to bob.scholarship@yahoo.com or in person at the Grand Forks Credit Union.
