It is with deep sorrow the family of Graham announce his passing on September 14, 2022.
Graham was born the third child of Anne and Walter Bruce on November 7, 1940. He was predeceased by his parents, his older sister Marni (Peacock, Hutton), his older brother Walter (known as Buzz) and his lady friend of 30+ years Lorraine Cockle.
Graham is survived by his sister, Carol McNamara, Kevin Cockle, and many nieces and nephews.
Graham received his education from Earl Grey Public, Rideau Park Junior High and Central High School, where he graduated with honours. As with may of his peers, his first year at the University of Calgary was spent playing bridge! Moving on to the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Graham received his Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Graham liked music and became part of the TIKI’s along with his brother-in-law Tom McNamara and Budge Burrows. They entertained at the Prairie Dog Inn on 17th Ave SW. He then moved onto the North Country Singers and finally joined The Original Caste, who toured mainly in the USA, as the opening act for Glen Campbell, The Ames Brothers, Johnny Mathis and Tennessee Ernie Ford.
The Original Caste group was invited to Japan as honoured guests of the Yamaha Music Festival where they received their gold record for “One Tin Soldier”.
Returning to Calgary the group played the Jubilee Auditorium. Graham then left the band and worked as the Canadian Manager of Dowell Chemical, as a Partner of Creative Associates, as a Partner of Bow Webb Publishing and finally as a consultant. Graham then retired to enjoy some fly fishing with his buddies.
He will be missed.
