Loving husband, father and grandfather Robert Heit passed away at home, surrounded by his children and many loved ones, April 20th, 2022 at the age of 80.
Robert was born on June 1941 in Kitchener Ontario. Robert was working for Eaton’s, when at 21, he discovered the joy of flying and embarked on a long career in aviation. At 23 he began his Airline career where he met Cecile, his future wife and mother of his 8 children. They married in 1967 and moved to Alberta, when he accepted a job at Pacific Western Airlines. After a 35 year career with Canadian Airlines and Air Canada, Robert retired in July 2001.
Establishing themselves in St. Albert in 1971, Robert was an active member in his St. Albert community and a faithful parishioner of St. Albert Catholic Parish. He served as a trustee for the St. Albert Catholic School District #3 in the early 80’s. He was also an active father to his children, frequently seen skiing in the winter in the mountains or on Shuswap lake in the summer. His faithful and adventurous spirit built the foundation of his children.
Finding love again, he met Irene Jackson, and they married in 2014, extending their loving families. They led a happy long marriage until Robert’s passing.
Survived by his wife Irene; his children Robert (Trina), Christina, Brent (Anita), Nathalie (Jeff), Liza (Andrew), Scott (Carmen) and Ryan (Daina); his 31 grandchildren; Keenan, Lucas, Samuel, Alexander, Liam, Tegan, Jack, Cecilia, Jasper, Connor, Stellan, Maria, Louis, River, Jasmine, Austin, Brodie, Maverick, Hugo, Stetson, Hudson, Ella, Mara, Georgia, Henry, Thomas, Alice, Grace, Lane, Vienne and Ellis, and his brothers Morris and Michael.
Predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Cecile; son Patrick; parents Arthur and Mona; son-in-law Travis, and grandchildren Theresa and Nathalie.
Prayers will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25th,, 2022 at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert. Reverend Ignacy Warias, OMI will celebrate a Funeral Mass at St. Albert Catholic Church, 7 St Vital Ave, St. Albert at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26th, 2022. Interment will follow at St. Albert Catholic Church Cemetery.
