Rita was born on the farm in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba and grew up in town. After graduating from high school in 1956 she taught at St. Louis School for a year. She married Etienne Rondeau of St. Leon, MB on July 2, 1957. Together they operated a mixed farm and raised their four children. Rita was a talented seamstress; she also loved to knit and crochet. She tended to a huge garden; canned, pickled, preserved, and froze an abundance of fruit and vegetables. She was an excellent cook, known for her awesome home-made bread and pies. The cold storage and freezers were stocked year-round. When the kids were grown, she worked for Homecare as a personal care aid. Following her stroke in 2003, Rita and Etienne moved to St. Boniface.
The family would like to thank everyone for the care, respect and support given to Rita over the years and thereby making it possible for her to live at home.
