Purdie, Rita Mary – Passed away peacefully at MacKenzie Health in Richmond Hill on Tuesday March 8th, at the age of 92.
Rita was the beloved wife of the late James Purdie. Loving Mother of Karen (Alec), Diana (Glen) and Kimberly (Matt). Cherished Grandmother to Geoff, Krista, Lisa, Michelle, Neil, Wesley, Amanda, Jessica, Meagan and Rebecca. Great Grandma to Cole, Hailey, Vander, Owen, Ethan and Holly.
Rita was a force in the world. She was strong and hard working, yet gentle and caring. She loved doing her own home renovations as well as gardening and landscaping. She could build a stone patio, and with those same hands gently cuddle her grandchildren. Her support and love of her family was unwavering. She always had time for a cup of tea and a chat whenever she was needed. Rita also loved animals and had a great passion for dancing. She had a wonderful sense of humour and her smile lit up our lives. Rita never complained, but soldiered on, even if times were tough. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
In keeping with Rita’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. If desired, a memorial donation can be made to the Canadian Red Cross for Ukraine, which would be appreciated by the family.
