Under the constant vigil of his devoted partner Deryl, Rick passed away peacefully on the evening of November 26th, 2022. Rick was the faithful partner and best friend to Deryl McGray for 42 years, and is also survived by his brother Rob Hunter, sister in law Darlene Cook (Scott-deceased), niece Ashley Cook-Fletcher (Ron) and nephew Stacey Cook and best friends Louise and Ralph (deceased). He will be missed by his kittens, past (Frodoe, Ethel) and current, Starr.
Rick began his life as a child in Etobicoke, child of George and Penny Hunter (deceased). He began his work life in the film industry and migrated his business skills to the floral industry in Toronto, finishing work in Oshawa, where he helped to build the business at the first Walmart, making many friends over his 10 year tenure there.
Rick met his life partner Deryl in Toronto in 1981 and later they moved to Oshawa. They travelled extensively through Canada, the U.S and Caribbean in their younger years and they enjoyed their trailer at Duck Lake for many summers. Rick enjoyed his retirement, reading the morning paper, the odd scotch in the afternoon and was a faithful Coronation fan. He loved listening to his favorite radio station KX96 and was frequently winning tickets for concerts which he passed on to family and friends. He enjoyed family gatherings and the great food that went along with that. He also served as a Director on the Board of Harmony King Co-operative for many years.
Rick will be missed by his many friends and family members, who will remember him as a caring and kind individual with a great sense of humour. Forever in my heart until I join you in heaven, love Deryl.
