Tributes
Richard passed away on Friday, November 25 at the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Kanata after a devastatingly short struggle with cancer. Richard was born in Ottawa on May 22, 1949 to Robert and Margaret (nee Pound) Fleming. Beloved husband to Lynn (Attfield), he was the proud father of Robert (Adrienne) and Ashley (Joey) and the “bursting-with-joy” Papa to Jack, Sophie, Leyla , Kamryn and Toryn. Joining Lynn in her sorrow are Richard and Lynn’s siblings Berkley (Linda) Fleming, Michael (Sharon) Fleming, Margot (Ken, deceased) Ridley, Howard (Cathy) Attfield and Susan (David) Bertrand.
He was a passionate supporter of the Twin Elm Rugby Park and a member of the Bytown Blues Rugby Club, volunteered on innumerable committees for Nepean and Ottawa, was an avid gardener, cook and was a Warden of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church.
Visitation from 1:00 to 3:00 on Friday Dec 2 at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 2821 St. Stephen’s Street followed by a celebration of Richard’s life at 3:00p.m. The service will be available on Zoom by sending an email to office@ststephs.org.
