Peacefully at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance Palliative Care Unit on September 11, 2022 in his 84th year, Richard Wesley Pollock (Dick) started his new life.
Beloved husband of Donna (Rucker), loving father of Raymond (John) & Rosemary (Kersten), Pat Pollock & Julie (Berkenheimer), and Mike & Anne Marie (Wells). Grandpa of Fraser and Brittany, Marly and Taylor and Jason and Jillian Catton, a niece of Rosemary’s who Dick treated like his own granddaughter. A brother to Louise Claeys. Predeceased by his Father (John), Mother (Edna), Brother (Murray) and Brothers-in-law (Laird Holdaway and Dunc Claeys). Dick will be deeply missed by his family, friends and community.
Born in Chatham to John and Edna. Dick was proud of his family and all of their accomplishments. He was also proud and loved talking about his farm and all the crops he harvested over the many years. He enjoyed going hunting, having fish fries with his hunting group, riding horses, camping in Algonquin Park, watching a good hockey game, playing a game of crokinole, going to auctions and loved antiques. He was passionate about the outdoors and being in the wilderness. Dick obtained his auctioneer’s license. We loved to hear him auction articles – he had the gift! Dick was known for his kind soul and good sense of humour, sharing many of his jokes and making everyone laugh until they cried.
Dick and Donna raised their family of three boys in Blenheim, moving a few times and then moved one last time where they raised their sons on his childhood farm. He was so happy being able to live his life on the homestead.
Dick’s family was his pride and joy, along with Toby his German Shepherd and Smokey his quarter horse.
Dick’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Medicine A West 4th Floor for their wonderful care of Dick during his final days as well as his family doctor, Dr. McCullough and specialist Dr. Martin (Sarnia).
Please join us for a time of visitation at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Friday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service for Dick will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday September 17, 2022 (time to be announced). Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.
Those wishing to remember Dick with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation toward the Palliative Care Unit or the London Regional Cancer Program for research.
