REV CLIFFORD CAMPBELL May 19 2022

May 19, 2022
Clifford Melville Campbell (WWII Veteran) passed away peacefully at Belvedere Heights, on Thursday, May 19th, 2022, in his 99th year.
Beloved husband of Jutta Campbell. Brother of Marjorie Campbell and the late Norma Horgan. Loving father of Michael, Carolyn O’Higgins, Andy, and Suzanne Bento, and stepfather of Sandy Boroumand, Ingrid Exner, and the late Monica and Derrick Exner. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: William, Matthew, Trevor, Christina, Marco and Malcolm. Also remembered by his great-grandchildren: Campbell, Jacques and Eli. Fondly remembered by his other relatives and many friends.
Cliff experienced a challenging childhood, losing his father at the age of 9 and growing up in the care of aunts and uncles. After serving with the RCAF out of Yorkshire in the second World War, he worked in various capacities with the Canadian Pacific Railway. In 1959, after meeting Dr. Clarence Jordan of the Koinonia Community in Georgia, he left the business world and moved with his family to begin a different life; within a year and a half he had moved again – to become a student minister with the United Church of Canada. In Saskatchewan he ministered and studied, becoming ordained six years later.
Until his retirement from the McKellar-Dunchurch pastoral charge near Parry Sound, Cliff worked as a United Church minister in Jamaica (various churches, Operation Friendship in the Kingston slums, Knox College), Bolton (Cedar Glen Camp & Conference Centre) and Cambridge. He loved to write – and is remembered for his thought-provoking and lyrical sermons, his poetry and his contributions to a variety of local newspapers. He will be missed.
Cremation has taken place. A Service in Celebration of Clifford’s Life will take place in the Logan Memorial Chapel (705-746-5855), 81 James Street, Parry Sound. Date and time to be announced. Private interment at Fairholme Cemetery, McKellar.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Belvedere Heights, the United Church of Canada, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
