Obituary
It is with incredible sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Rebecca Lynn McGrath, which occurred at her home, on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. She was born in Saint John on August 9, 1987, to her parents, Marguerite “Margie” (Smith) and Robert McGrath, and was the loving partner of almost 2 years to Nicholas Mudge.
Rebecca was both quiet and loud. She was introverted most of the time but with friends and familiars, she would open up. In high school at Rothesay High, she was a cheerleader and a good student. She went to university but found that it just wasn’t the way she wanted to be educated, so she left there and joined Community College where she took her training as a Paralegal and she excelled at it. Since 2008, she has been a valued member of the Correia and Collins Law Offices. She loved to read and was learning to love graphic novels with her book club, watch TV, and play games, especially World of Warcraft and the Sims. She was such a loving and fun-loving person, who was so young and really just starting to feel like she was thriving, and her life was going just the way she wanted it to go. She had a love of animals having been around many in her life, especially horses which she grew to love during her time horseback riding. She and Nicholas were really enjoying their lives together and looking forward to the future, having adopted their black Labrador puppy, Luna, and planning for what was to come. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her and had the privilege of getting the chance to meet her.
In addition to her parents and her partner, Nicholas, she is survived by her stepmother, Beth Barrett Bowles (Robert) and her loving sisters, Andrea (Mike Dolan) and Sarah; her two uncles, Jerry McGrath and Fr. Marc Smith, csc; her nephew, Marley Isfeld and niece, Hailey Fox; as well as many friends. She was predeceased by her grandparents and by her infant brother, David.
Her family would like to send out a special thank you to Timothy Collins and the staff of Correia and Collins for all that they have done to help Rebecca. We can’t begin to thank you enough.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where a Celebration of her Life will take place from 2:30-4:00pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at the Fundy Funeral Home. Her family will place her at rest at a private ceremony at a time of their choosing in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations in Rebecca’s memory can be made to Canadian Mental Health Association of New Brunswick, MindCare NB, or to any charity that is going to help people who are desperately in need.
