A kind and gentle giant now rests with God his heavenly Father. Raymond Stephen Miller 74 years of age passed away unexpectedly at home May 23, 2022. Predeceased by his father Stephen Miller in 1951 and mother Helen Miller (Kovac) in 2003.
Ray was a son, brother, brother-in-law and the greatest uncle in the entire world. He was a man of immense knowledge and was passionate about many things, in particular, science, politics, and nature photography just to name a few. The past 20 years he fostered an appreciation for astronomy, and became our personal resource for any question related to the skies and celestial phenomena. We would often receive a text telling us to look up at the stars because he didn’t want us missing out on what the skies might reveal. Beautiful photos adorn the walls of friends and family captured by Ray’s love of nature. Hours spent in the surrounding forests captivated his imagination and his keen eye for the perfect angle was rarely missed. He often spoke fondly of his time spent with friends in both the Trap and Skeet and Fish and Game clubs. Several other hobbies filled his days and he made wonderful friends along the way.
Ray brought his family great joy. His kindness and love is endless.
Left to mourn his passing is his brother Joseph Miller and wife Donna, sister Helen Christie (Don). Ray was loved dearly by his niece Jenna Hodder and husband Toby, and nephew Stephen Miller and wife Ainsley. How happy he was to be a Great Uncle to Rivlen and Stella Hodder and Avery Miller. He never missed a birthday or celebration and took great pride in finding the perfect gift for each child. He had quite the sense of humour especially at Halloween when he would drop off a truck load of candy with the kids, then RUN! Also left to mourn Ray’s passing are many cousins and good friends. Ray was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the way he chose to live his everyday life exemplified his strong faith.
Ray, we love you and you will be missed. We promise tonight we will look up at the stars.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Northern Cardiac Fund or Northern Cardiovascular Surgery Fund in memory of Raymond Miller.
The Mass celebrating Ray’s life will be Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St Patrick’s Cathedral, 211 Archibald St. S. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. in the church.
