Phyllis Irene Wilson 2022

Phyllis’ Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom Phyllis I. Wilson on July 31, 2022, while a resident of Carlton Manor.
Phyllis was born March 14, 1926, in Pembroke, NB to Frederick and Martha (Stewart) Foster. I often wondered if her initials, PI had anything to do with her being born on what we now call “pi” day.
Phyllis leaves behind her daughter Lesley Crowe and her husband Alan, and son Bob and his wife Shirley Ann; grandsons Kristopher, Geoffrey (Candace) and Nicholas(Jana) Crowe, Jason (Megan)Wilson: great-grandchildren Austin, Elyse, Norah Crowe, Wyatt, and Casey Wilson.
Also surviving are brother-in-law Bob Martin and sister-in-law Joyce Foster, and many much-loved nieces and nephews and their families.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 71 years Clare and siblings Larry Foster, Leota Quigg, and Vaughn Foster.
A woman of deep faith mom belonged to several groups within the church, often volunteering at church functions and quite often offering food and lodging to visiting pastors and their wives as well as several choirs. She was always cooking something to send out to those who were sick or injured and I can honestly say I never heard a complaint, but she wasn’t always a great cook. I seem to remember dad telling me about the first fall they were married in 1944, apparently, back in those days, not many farmers had combines. There were threshing crews that went around all the farms harvesting the grain.
It seems part of their pay was three square meals a day. Dad apparently forgot to mention to mom that she was to feed half a dozen or so men and when he came in at lunchtime for the food he found mom in tears. A quick call for help to her mom Martha and the crisis was solved by supper time. I think it was then that mom decided she would become a very good cook and of course, dad never went hungry again.
There was a devilish side to mom as well, usually brought on by her three closest friends Mary Laurie, Dot Arnold, and Ora Thompson. The stories that came out of their annual trips to the U.S.A. we’re numerous indeed. Friends like these and many more throughout her life brought mom much joy.
The family brought her perhaps the greatest pleasure. Her four grandsons were a special joy and she so look forward to hearing her two great-granddaughters playing the piano for her. Great nanny had a warm spot in her heart for Elyse and Norah.
It was gratifying that mom spend her last days under the wonderful care of Carlton Manor where mom volunteered on the Manor auxiliary for over 40 years. We cannot thank you enough Carleton Manor.
“Celebration of Life” for Phyllis, will be held at the Scott Funeral Home Chapel, on August 13, 2022, at 2 PM. Rev. Craig Woodcock will be officiating with interment in the Woodstock Rural Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Upper River Valley Hospital foundation; the Carleton Manor; Woodstock Baptist Church Building fund; or the charity of your choice.
